Who We Are

The ExSJ is an interdisciplinary center within the Shiley-Marcos School of Engineeirng. It engages community collaborators, pro bono professionals, students and faculty  in a reciprocal exchange of knowledge, ideas and skills, toward the co-creation of socio-technical solutions to environmental and social justice challenges.

The ExSJ supports this work by:

​

  • Engaging participants and the wider USD/San Diego community in regular professional development opportunities like the Monthly ExSJ Lunch and Knowledge Exchange sessions with local and international experts.

  • Supporting the identification of, and the development/implementation of socio-technical solutions, with and for community partners.

  • Fostering a community of practice by connecting, celebrating, nurturing and providing access to resources and opportunities for critical reflection, growth and innovation by all involved.
